They say do something that scares you every day, well I certainly did that today!!!! After our couple of days on Mersea Island we decide to continue our long weekend off at a place we discovered a few weeks ago while looking at camper vans,Kingsdown in Kent between Deal and Dover. It was not the best choice as the forecast SW wind is cross off with the wind coming over the White Cliffs. It was blowing v-strong about 200m from the beach so rig choice was a nightmare.I ended up rigging 5.6 but taking the 130+lt. Xantos out,I wobbled out the first bit, then the wind hit and I was mega over powered and sailing straight into a 10 foot swell!!!! I had an hour battling with the conditions which included a fast run of nearly 29kts. where I manged to find some flat water between the swells. Its a great place to sail with the Cliffs as a backdrop and you can park your van right by the beach and there is a great campsite overlooking the sea for £8 a night. When I had packed up I spoke to a local windsurfer who had broke a boom and had to ditch his rig and swim ashore at a place called St. Margarets Bay which takes SW and is just around the corner,I will try there tomorrow
